Postdocs

Soham Chatterjee
Postdoc
Soham is a postdoc in the group. He received his PhD in 2025 from the Centre for Systems and Control at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India. His research area is in motion planning and control of systems governed by partial differential equations (PDEs). Soham's current work centers around control of PDEs with moving boundaries with applications to additive manufacturing processes.

PhD Students

Kwang Hak Kim
PhD Student
Hak is from Seoul, South Korea, and is a Ph.D. student co-advised by Professor Mamadou Diagne and Professor Miroslav Krstić. He received his B.S. in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020. His research includes safety-critical control, with a focus on designing efficient Control Barrier Functions (CBFs) for applications such as safe aircraft carrier on-deck traffic control and aerial pursuit.

Eranda Somathilake
PhD Student
Eranda is from Kandy, Sri Lanka. He is a Ph.D. student since 2022 in Professor Mamadou Diagne’s research group. He got his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2020 and then worked as a teaching assistant at the same University from 2020 to 2022. His research is focused on control of sedimentation in river channels for the ecological preservation of the riverbed and long term operation of dams.

Shuheng Zhang
PhD Student
Shuheng Zhang is an Oxford graduated mathematician with an interest in control theory. He got his B.Sc. in Pure Math from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, in 2024, and M.Sc. in Mathematics (with Distinction) from University of Oxford in 2025. He is now pursuing Ph.D. at UC San Diego under the supervision of Prof. Mamadou Diagne and Prof. Miroslav Krstić. His research interests span partial differential equations, control systems, and stochastic analysis, with current work focusing on control-theoretic approaches in mathematical biology.
